Modelling of Extreme Hydrological Events on a Tisza River Basin Pilot Area, Hungary

Climate change takes more and more challenges to the water management. Future predictions show that the possibility of extreme floods and drought events are increasing, thus an additional task of the water management can be the fulfilment of the increasing water demands. These new extreme hydrological situations need to be properly handled in water management. The paper presents the first modelling results of the JOINTISZA project carried out on a selected sub-basin of the Tisza River, which is endangered by hydrological extremes. Our aim was to demonstrate the applicability of a one-dimensional hydrodynamic model to study the effects of the climate change. Future hydrological trends were introduced in the river basin and it was assessed how the results of climate models can be used for further hydrodynamic modelling. To address challenges of climate change and supply the stakeholders with an adequate amount of water, proper operation of the reservoir and the irrigation canals are needed. Nyelv, kultúra, értelmezés. A humántudományok és a hermeneutika érintkezési pontjai és elágazásai = Language, Culture, Interpretation: Interconnections and Diversities between the Humanities and Hermeneutics

A kutatás célul tűzte ki a kultúratudomány és a hermeneutika kapcsolatainak a legújabb nemzetközi kutatások fényében való feltárását, alkotó hozzájárulást e stúdiumok elmélyítéséhez nemzetközi együttműködésben és publikációk révén. A konkrét eredmények a kutatás révén közzétett tudományos közleményekben, egyetemi kurzusok és előadások tartásában, konferencia-részvételekben és egyéb -- hazai és nemzetközi -- együttműködési formákban mutatkoztak meg. A kutatás a humán tudományok benső összefüggéseinek -- a hermeneutika integratív szemléletmódja alapján történő -- feltárásához lényeges adalékokkal szolgált, új szempontokkal gazdagította a tudományterület művelését, jelentősen hozzájárulva az akadémiai diszciplínák szerint elkülönült-felszabdalt humán tudományszakok (pl. filozófia, filológia, irodalom, nyelvtudomány, teológia) integrálásához, egységes szempontú megközelítéséhez, a kutatói utánpótlás fejlesztéséhez, a hazai és külföldi kutatási együttműködési hálózat erősítéséhez, valamint -- a megvalósított nemzetközi együttműködés és a részvevő kutatók előzetesen kiépült kapcsolatrendszere révén -- a hazai kutatóbázis nemzetközi szintű eredményekre történő alkalmassá tételéhez. A kutatás keretében magyar és idegen nyelven közel harminc konferencia- és egyéb előadásra került sor, a közleményeket illetően magyar, német és angol nyelven több mint negyven tanulmány látott napvilágot. | The research proposed to explore the interconnections between cultural studies and hermeneutics in the light of most recent international research, as well as actively contributing to furthering those studies by publications and international cooperation. Concrete results originating from the research include publications based on the output of research done, graduate courses and lectures, contributions to conferences, as well as other forms of -- domestic and international -- cooperation. The research has provided essential contributions to exploring the interconnections among the human disciplines primarily by adopting the integrative perspective of hermeneutics. The research provided new approaches to dealing with themes related to those areas; it contributed to lending human studies, otherwise typically dealt with and pursued separately by each discipline (e.g., philosophy, philology, literature, linguistics, theology, etc.) an integrative view, to furthering graduate school research, to reinforcing and intensifying international cooperation network, as well as to enabling domestic research teams to adapt international research results by drawing on the international contacts developed by the research participants in the course of the previous years. The output of the research includes about thirty lectures or conference presentations, as well as more than fourty publications in Hungarian, German and English languages

Synthesis and applications of cinchona squaramide‐modified poly (glycidyl methacrylate) microspheres as recyclable polymer‐grafted enantioselective organocatalysts

Our work presents the immobilization of cinchona squaramide organocatalyst on poly(glycidyl methacrylate) solid support. Preparation of the well-defined monodisperse polymer microspheres was facilitated by comprehensive parameter optimization. Exploiting the reactive epoxy groups of the polymer support, three amino-functionalized cinchona derivatives were immobilized on this carrier. To explore the effect of the amino-linker, these structurally varied precatalysts were synthesized by modifying the cinchona skeleton at different positions. The catalytic activities of the immobilized organocatalysts were tested in Michael addition reaction of pentane-2,4-dione and trans--nitrostyrene with excellent yields (up to 98%) and enantioselectivities (up to 96% ee).Finally, the catalysts were easily recovered five times by centrifugation without loss of activity

Hermeneutika, esztétika, metafizika, nyelvfilozófia. Interdiszciplináris kutatások a humán tudományok elméletének és történetének köréből = Hermeneutics, Aesthetics, Metaphysics, Philosophy of Language. Interdisciplinary Research in the Theory and History of Humanities.

A kutatási projekt a hermeneutikai gondolatkörnek az egyéb filozófiai és humántudományi diszciplinákhoz, elsősorban az esztétikához, a metafizikához és nyelvfilozófiához való viszonyát állította a kutatás középpontjába. A kutatás során nemzetközi együttműködést valósítottunk meg több nyugat-európai egyetemmel (így többek között a tübingeni, a heidelbergi, a bécsi és a freiburgi egyetemmel). A nemzetközi együttműködés keretében workshop-okat rendeztünk és konferenciákon vettünk részt. Kapcsolatokat vettünk fel ill. a meglévő kapcsolatokat továbbfejlesztettük a nemzetközi hermeneutikai kutatás központi műhelyeivel. Vendégelőadásokat tartottunk és továbbképzéseket szerveztünk a kutatási erdményekről hazai és külföldi egyetemeken, támogattuk az erdélyi kutatásokat, elsősorban a kolozsvári hermeneutikai műhelyt és a mesterképző kurzusait. A kutatási eredményeket itthon az oktatásban, a hermeneutikai, esztétikai és irodalomelméleti doktori képzésben hasznosítjuk. A kutatás keretében magyar és idegen nyelven több, mint harminc konferenciaelőadásra került sor, a közleményeket illetően magyar, német és angol nyelven három kötet s hozzávetőleg negyven tanulmány látott napvilágot. | The research project has centred around the role which hermeneutics has developed with regard to the other human disciplines, most importantly, to aesthetics, metaphysics and philosophy of language. In the course of the research period we developed cooperation with a number of Western universities, e.g., with the universities of Tubingen, Heidelberg, Freiburg, Vienna. In the freme of international cooperation we organized workshops and convened symposia. We have taken up or intensified contacts with prestigious centres of international hermeneutical research. Drawing on reserch results we have delivered guest lectures, given presentations and talks at foreign universities; we also contributed to the work of Transylvanian hermeneutical studies, first of all the Master Program of Kolozsvár University. The results derived from the projects are being adapted in both undergraduate and graduate teaching in the fields of hermeneutics, aesthetics, and theory of literature. Output of the reserach project: more than thirty conference contributions, as well as, with regard to publications, three volumes and about fourty papers in English, German and Hungarian languages

Shooter localization and weapon classification with soldier-wearable networked sensors

The paper presents a wireless sensor network-based mobile countersniper system. A sensor node consists of a helmetmounted microphone array, a COTS MICAz mote for internode communication and a custom sensorboard that implements the acoustic detection and Time of Arrival (ToA) estimation algorithms on an FPGA. A 3-axis compass provides self orientation and Bluetooth is used for communication with the soldier’s PDA running the data fusion and the user interface. The heterogeneous sensor fusion algorithm can work with data from a single sensor or it can fuse ToA or Angle of Arrival (AoA) observations of muzzle blasts and ballistic shockwaves from multiple sensors. The system estimates the trajectory, the range, the caliber and the weapon type. The paper presents the system design and the results from an independent evaluation at the US Army Aberdeen Test Center. The system performance is characterized by 1-degree trajectory precision and over 95 % caliber estimation accuracy for all shots, and close to 100 % weapon estimation accuracy for 4 out of 6 guns tested
